NYC 2011 (July 2011) - Journey Student Ministries

NYC will be the most amazing event of your life. NYC or Nazarene Youth Conference happens once every four years and you are only allowed to go once. Don't make the mistake of missing it. Picture having your favorite Christian Music Artist open up the night in a concert, then having one of the world's best youth speakers challenge your life, and top the night off with your favorite worship band leading you in worship. Now do this twice a day for a week and put some amazing mission trips in the middle of day and a late night activity and more free stuff than you can shake a stick at and you might be close to what NYC actually is. Plan on this event! Those eligible for NYC 2011 are students graduating in 2011-2015.

Realize that all people have worth and are loved by God.

Encourage all who come to Celebrate Recovery that no matter what they are struggling with, God has the power to help them overcome.

Consciously choose to commit ourselves to loving each other as God has loved us.

Offer to those seeking help a safe place to share, a place of belonging, a place to take off the masks we wear and a place where confidentiality is highly regarded.

Value each person and help each other grow spiritually by learning God's principles of recovery.

Experience the joy of fellowship with others who are walking similar paths of recovery.

Respect all our relationships; offer forgiveness as God has offered forgiveness.

Yield ourselves to God and accept this time as a turning point in life to walk in freedom from our past hurts, habits and hang-ups.

Welcome to the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene's Celebrate Recovery ministry page.

We began our vision of for ministry in early 2006 by praying that God would lead us and direct our paths. We needed the right people who had a burning desire to share healing power of God's Word with everyone who were struggling with hurts, hang-ups and habits that were impacting their lives in negative and dysfunctional ways.

In October of 2007, God answered that prayer by bringing together several individuals who were walking their own road to recovery and who admitted that they were powerless over their addictions and compulsive behaviors. All had previously been involved with Celebrate Recovery and knew that the power of God had helped them overcome their hurts, hang-ups and habits. In April 2008 we launched our ministry.

Our desire is that Celebrate Recovery will grow into a valuable outreach to men and women throughout the Leavenworth area who are secretly struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups and provide these individuals a place to be set free to enjoy the peace, serenity, and joy that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Sunday Children's Ministry - Children's Ministry

"Bringing Children into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ"

The mission of LCN's Children's department is to bring children into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that children develop a lifelong personal relationship with our Savior, loving Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30). The theme for the Children's Ministry here at LCN is "Seek and Find" because God's word says, "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me" (Proverbs 8:17). We believe as children SEEK after God and FIND Him, they will develop a passion for the mission of our church, and will in turn bring others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

OVERVIEW OF WEEKLY SESSIONS:

Sunday School: Kids learn the exciting stories of the Bible in an age appropriate format during this weekly session. Sunday School is from 9:30am to 10:15am. For those families that attend LCN's first service at 8:45am, children start out in the sanctuary for the singing and are dismissed at 9:30am for Sunday School.

Children's Church: Kids enjoy fun Bible stories, games, activities and snacks in a large group setting. This session is during LCN's second service. Kids start out in the sanctuary at 10:30am for the singing and are dismissed around 11:00am for Children's Church. On the first Sunday of the month, 1st through 5th graders stay in the main service with their families.

Nursery: Even at the youngest ages, we believe in partnering with parents in introducing their children to Jesus. Childcare is provided for children ages 0 - 3 during our regularly scheduled weekly services.

Here at LCN, we provide a safe environment for children where all of our volunteers have been properly screened. This terrific staff loves kids and looks forward to helping them learn more about Jesus!

Upper Valley Christian School came into existence in 1979 as a ministry of the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene because Pastor Jim West had a vision to begin a Christian School in the Upper Valley. It began with just 20 students, and has grown to minister to 135 or so children and their families a year. In those years, we have had the opportunity to minister to around 600 students. Some of them have subsequently graduated from college, gone to the mission field, medical school, the military or other fields of endeavor. We have even had our first second-generation student enroll in 1994-95.

God has truly blessed UVCS in those years. He has been faithful in every way through difficult financial times, trials, and growth. His faithfulness to us demonstrates our need to be faithful to Him in everything that we do. This is His school above all else. He established it. He sustains it. Without Him, we would be lost. It is our responsibility to be faithful to Him who called us.

How do we want to be known in the future?

As recipients of God's mercy and grace, we desire to be an authentic, grace-giving community of Christ' followers, who love God, love the people of God, and love the world as God loves the world.

How do we work and relate to each other?

The Bible is God's Inspired Word to us and by it we order our lives (2 Tim 3:16-17). LCN's core values are based on the 5 Biblical purposes for the church: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. We seek to balance these purposes in everything we do. These core values are validated through our behaviors:Worship- surrender, reverence, celebration, praise, prayer, ongoing lifestyle Fellowship- loving relationships; sense of belonging; unity; nurturing, safe place; accountability; sharing of life together Discipleship- Bible-based teaching, mentoring, spiritual growth and commitment, life application, spiritual disciplines (prayer, fasting, personal Bible study) Ministry- gift-oriented service, every believer a minister, empowering leadership, teamwork, social awareness Evangelism- "go-ing" attitude, missional-Acts 1:8, testimonial, relevant, need-oriented

In brief, we believe:That there is one God - The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living. That man is born with a fallen nature and therefore is inclined to evil, and that continually. That the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race, and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from condemnation of sin. That the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost. That the believers are to be sanctified wholly and subsequent to regeneration, through the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgement will take place.
